The Challenge
When something has never been done before, there's no playbook to follow. For FCF, navigating football's deep-rooted traditions proved just as challenging as starting from scratch. As digital partners, we faced the exhilarating challenge of blending gaming technology with real athletes to reimagine America's favorite sport in a completely fan-driven way.

Guidelines
Our brand guidelines sought to balance the bright, loud, and aggressive colors that encapsulate the brand while also communicating a grungy, intense street football essence. Balancing the gaming and technology aspects of the brand was integral to our design direction and documentation.


Product Approach
By establishing user types and goals, an information architecture and prototyped user flows, we were able to build high fidelity wireframes that considered the feedback of founders, subject matter experts, and potential users alike.

User Experience
In order to tap into existing UX ‘muscle memory’, we worked to design a platform that would leverage natural expectations for a sports league while still visually positioned as something completely new and more gamer-centric.


Game Week
Each week, fans have the power to draft players, engage in play-calling during the game, and make coaching/owner decisions for their team. After defining stories and requirements, we designed the user journey to facilitate this dynamic, recurring experience while helping users learn innately as they progressed through the events.
Gamification
We designed a fantasy football-esque platform to participate in the draft. Leading up to the draft, we created an experience for users to research players, set their queue, and prepare for the live event. In tangent, we designed a system for fans to join in with thousands of other users to submit their votes for the player to be drafted to their team.

What We Did
Results
We launched FCF's platform precisely on schedule for their inaugural 2021 season. The league celebrated immediate success, securing a $40M investment for their second season. The following year, we developed an even more ambitious platform to support their explosive growth—proof that when fans truly control the game, everyone wins.
